One amazing (and completely unplanned) experience I’ve had was accidentally hosting around 14 international exchange students in a small two-bedroom apartment I shared with my roommate while I was in college. I was broke, barely managing daily expenses, and this was almost two decades ago; well before Couchsurfing, social media, or even widespread internet use. What started as a spontaneous situation turned into one of the most memorable gatherings of my life: people from different countries, sharing food, stories, laughter, and ideas late into the night. Looking back, it feels like an early, organic version of Couchsurfing... random, human, and deeply meaningful.
