About Me

Grew up in a town outside of Queens NY, 40 or so minutes from Manhattan. I recently graduated from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) where I received my BA in history. Since graduation I've been busy doing different things in Montreal and now in London, where I've spent my summer with internship for an online publication in addition to an art gallery. I joined Couchsurfing hoping to meet interesting people form around the world . I love traveling and in recent summers spent time in Saint Petersburg and Moscow trying to improve my Russian. I really love Russian art (post revolution, pre Stalin) as well as Bauhaus stuff. I hope to pursue this at the master's level soon enough.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am about to leave London to go on vacation before going back home to look for employment / maybe apply to some graduate programs. I just think it would be a fun way to spend my last night or two.

Music, Movies, and Books

music - a lot of different stuff, very open (going out - house/techno), when chilling usually more relaxed

movies - Carlito's Way, Goodfellas, Godfather I & II, Kids, The Usual Suspects, Eyes Wide Shut, Dog Day Afternoon, American History X, History of Violence, Memento, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Shutter Island (book is maybe better actually), City of God, Gladiator, Minority Report, A Beautiful Mind, American Psycho, Vanilla Sky, Ocean's Eleven, In Bruges, King's Speech, Blade ... (probably forgetting many but TV series - Seinfeld - hands down favorite + best)

books - top 4 not in any order - Crime & Punishment / The Idiot / Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, Anna Karenina by Tolstoy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently (when I was in Israel), woke up at 3:30 AM to begin a climb up Mt Masada. As you make your way up so does the sun, which peeps up over the horizon overlooking the Dead Sea. At the top of the Masada ruins remain from the First Jewish-Roman War. You can still see the ramp that the Romans made to try to get to the palaces on the mountain, where the Jews held out for years. In the end they committed mass suicide rather than surrender to the Romans. Crazy history but it was really the hike that was most amazing (and exhausting).

I also had an amazing experience on an overnight train from Moscow to Saint Petersburg once. Not much of an 'amazing thing' but it was the perfect Russian experience... to be continued

Teach, Learn, Share

I am super down to learn anything... I do have a harmonica but don't know how to play it ... so if someone wants to give me a lesson in that i would be so happy and thankful.

Also I just got into photography so anything in that regard would be really cool. Maybe photoshop lessons?

I can try to teach you some Russian (although I'm not a native speaker. still) !

I am really down to co-cook a really delicious dinner. I'll run out for drinks as well.

Would love to exchange travel recommendations.
