About Me

Kate and I are so busy right now, neither of us are home at all! Sadly, we are unable to welcome anyone at the moment.

Jersey City is right across the water from Manhattan, it is easily accessible and closer than many of the outer boroughs. We have the largest urban state park in the USA, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Liberty Science Center, as well as many wonderful restaurants and bars. It is not, however, in NYC proper.

Please make requests at least 1 week in advance of your anticipated arrival.

I try to make a lasting, positive impact on everyone I meet.

I am open-minded, open-hearted, passionate, and creative. I'm a certified aerial yoga teacher, I study Buddhism and read a lot. The human condition and our relationship dynamics completely fascinate me; I love to talk about how what we love makes us who we are.

I love to drink wine and eat amazing food.

You can look at my life, my cats, and my selfies on instagram, too! http://instagram.com/spunshadow

I believe that in order to find true freedom we must live deliberately, with intention and compassion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I stayed with two lovely CSers while I traveled in Europe. I've hosted a few people as they've come through.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm not really that much of a couchsurfer, generally. I'm actually the host almost all the time. It's usually just to my friends visiting from out of town, or my friends who live here but just got back into town, but you know, it's there. One friend of mine liked couchsurfing at my house so much he stayed for 6 weeks.

Interests

Learning about new things, doing yoga, audiobooks, paper books, going out into nature.

I also enjoy smaller-scale adventures, mostly having to do with wine and food.

Music, Movies, and Books

The most important book in my life is East of Eden. I'm usually reading at least two books at a time. Favorite authors include George R.R. Martin (bonus points if you have read Fevre Dream!), Lenore Kandel, Neil Gaiman, Ann Patchett, and China Mieville.

My favorite movie is The Fall, but the one I can watch over and over again is Easy Virtue. I adore Wes Anderson (my favorite is The Darjeeling Limited.) Favorite classic films are The Maltese Falcon, Bringing Up Baby, and How to Marry a Millionaire.

I'm really into Americana and blues right now - loving The Barr Brothers, Shakey Graves, Hozier, and Alabama Shakes. I also love Fiona Apple, Metric, The Decemberists, Ella Mae, The Head and The Heart, The Lonely Forest, Rilo Kiley, David Bowie, and many, many, many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a beat poetry adventure and fell in love with 35 people all at once.

Teach, Learn, Share

The yoga studio where I practice is amazing. I can take you there with me, or lead you in my yard if the weather is nice enough.

I know some great day trips if you want to rent a car, and a few if you must go by train.

The three cats will also share their love with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cook. I always bring home wine. I am a very good listener if you need to talk about something.

Countries I’ve Visited
