About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've had many people help me out while travelling and I'd like to do the same for travellers to Portland.

ABOUT ME

I have a love for travel. I was a Geography major in college. I love maps, seeing new parts of the world/country, and I love to meet people from different backgrounds. I live about 2 miles from downtown Portland. There is a bus stop right outside my building which will take you downtown in about 15 minutes. This location is in a very trendy section of Portland. Mostly young people living in the neighborhood. Everything is within walking distance...restaraunts, bars, shopping, groceries and supplies. I have internet service and there is a library 2 blocks away.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a fairly free spirit, but also have a level of responsibility and respect for others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think it's cool to help out travelers to Portland so they can see the beautiful state of Oregon. I moved here from the east to enjoy the camping, outdoors, and the liberal and environmental mindset of Oregon.
I generally only accept female couchsurfers for the sake of my 6 year old daughter...since girls get along with her better and she's more comfortable giving up her room for a girl.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my travels in other countries have involved hotels or hostels. However, I've done some couchsurfing within the USA and have always had a good experience.

Interests

I love to travel, listen to music, go see live music, go hiking or camping, and also enjoy the bars and nightlife. I love to meet new people. I enjoy cooking a good meal at home and enjoying some wine or beer with my meal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've travelled to: England, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, and I've been to 45 of the 50 states in the USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

Portland is a very interesting city. It's a big city with a small town feel. It's like Seattle in many ways, but I really think the people here in Portland are more friendly. Life is not quite as fast paced here in Portland. The people tend to be political and liberal (everyone voted for Obama here.) There are giant pine trees around the area and on a clear day you can see up to 3 volcanos. Mt Hood is the closest and is about a 1 1/2 hour drive. It rains and is cloudy quite often from October to April. I actually like the rainy season here. It's rather soothing. From May to early October the weather here is amazing. Sunny, warm, fresh clean air, and just beautiful.
