About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from a tiny town in south Texas and moved to Austin four years ago to start school. I've had an on-going love affair with the city ever since. Currently I'm pursuing a degree in education and working full time at a local preschool. Knowing that I get to play with a whole classroom of three-year-olds makes getting up at six a.m. every morning totally worth it.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not sure I really have a "personal philosophy" by which I live. It seems to me that we don't have as much control over our lives as we think we do (or would like, for that matter). The only thing we can really control is how we react to what we're given. I think that the most important thing we can do is love each other. That's what I live for, I suppose. I try to love people as much as possible and hope that they're ready to love back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a comfy couch and I make really good sweet tea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never actually couchsurfed before but I know several people who have and they all loved it. I've heard a ton of stories and now I want my own to tell.

Interests

I love to laugh more than anything in the world, but singing comes in at a pretty close second (even if I'm not that good at it). When you work with kids it's hard to find time for hobbies, but I do make a mean play-dough frog and my coloring skills are nothing short of mind-blowing.

Music, Movies, and Books

OhMan. I love music in general, but my radio is almost always set to a country station. My dad always says you can take the girl away from the farm but you can't take the farm away from the girl.

Movies: High Fidelity, Mallrats, Harold and Maude, anything written by Charlie Kaufman, Mary Poppins, Legends of the Fall, and My Girl.

Books: SlackJaw, The Wanting Seed, Blue Like Jazz, The Catcher in the Rye, Jane Eyre, Where The Wild Things Are, and all things Jane Austen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I doubt that I could say anything profound enough for others to actually learn from it, but I'm hoping that I get to meet people who can.
