I am a german girl, i'm 19 years old and i finished my A level last year. I worked in a Restaurant to gain money for my gap year because i am not sure yet what i want to study. Afterwards i was working as an Au Pair in melbourne and i was travelling through Australia from may to august.

In my opinion couch surfing is one of the best ways to stay somewhere because you also get to know the country, not just in a Hostel where you are just together with other backpackers, or in the car/camping ground where you are only with your travel mates sometimes and you can learn the language.
