ABOUT ME

I was born to an Israeli father and a South African mother. My family jokes that we’re like the UN and that’s perhaps true in more ways than one. My parents are extraordinary; they instilled in me a deep reverence for humanity and great care for others. Ours was the kind of household that looked for people who needed family to share Thanksgiving with.
My mother taught me to be strong willed and determined, while at the same time, soft and tender. She continues to show me that somewhere in the balance of those qualities, there is a boundless supply of love to give, and that our hearts are big enough to give it to everyone. My father taught me integrity and fairness; he shows me that our giving needs absolutely nothing back if it is true giving. They have taken, and continue to take, such profound care of me. Their love is utterly limitless and without a doubt, they are my first, my forever, Holy Teachers.

My sister was my first example of what compassion in action can look like. She shows me what it is to really feel others’ pain and to take a personal responsibility to remove it. She ceaselessly offers me her support and I pray I can give her even half of what she selflessly gives me.
