About Me

I'm a robot that makes art.
I mean, I'm an artist that makes robots (really bad ones).

I'm moving to Växjö in August 2019 to study a Masters in Sustainable design.
I'd love to meet some people!

My background is in Art, where I've mostly been making interactive installations in galleries/museums for the last few years (while freelancing in writing, fabrication, illustration, photography, teaching, exhibition installation, stage design, website stuff, graphic design, art direction in the film industry, etc).

I'd like to move into something a bit more practically useful though, hence the Masters. My main areas of interest are nature and technology, and I just intend to pursue these interests in a different field, while hopefully making a positive impact on the environment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is so Utopic, it's great.
(Access not ownership!!)
I travel a lot, and I'm super social, so its always lovely to meet new people from all over the world, who have similar ideas (at the very least we have the fact that we both think Couchsurfing is cool in common).

Interests

I really like to do things where I learn more stuff! (making, conversations, reading, geeking out, watching, playing music, etc.)
I like to tinker and make stuff (this includes cooking).
I also really enjoy seeing interesting live musical acts, doing naturey things, and drinking beer. Not necessarily all at the same time, but I'm not opposed to the idea.

Music, Movies, and Books

I seem to like a lot of music (preferably experimental) in most genres.
But I have a soft spot for psychedelic rock, ambient electronic, industrial, early 2000s pop-rave, etc. Recently I've been on a total nostalgia binge with "The Knife" and Thom Yorke.

I think the movies I've rewatched the most number of times in my life have been "Top Secret" and "Tank Girl", thanks to being a teenager. But I generally like kinda absurd kinda weird kinda psychological kinda meta movies. One of the last movies I watched that I thought was nice was a Korean movie called "Mermaid Unlimited" that I watched on the plane on my way to China.

I used to be a total bookworm but now I just seem to read science and technology articles on the internet. And memes. The last 2 books I read were "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman, and "Myths of the Near Future" by JG Ballard.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once ran some solar-powered robotics workshops in like the middle of nowhere in rural South Africa. There was no running water, not much electricity, and a giant language barrier (gotta work on my isiMpondo!), but after a few hours we had about 50 little robots running around in the sunshine. It was fun.
