About Me

I'm a lively and curious person who can't sit still for very long and loves meeting new people. I figure even if you're shy, scared or in a terrible mood, you might as well do stuff because otherwise you'll probably miss out. For that reason, I try to do things that scare me, including capoeira and traveling to foreign countries by myself and trying to speak in languages I don't know well.

I grew up in Devon surrounded by green hills, 10 mins away from the sea and 5 mins away from the River Dart. It's beautiful! I think that founded my love of the sea, open water and swimming. Wherever I am I'll try and find somewhere to swim outdoors.

I studied anthropology at university and although I don't feel at home in academia, it has had quite an influence on the way I think and see the world and I'm always curious to learn about new places and people.

I lived in London for two years and ran a lunch club for older people and learnt to call bingo :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm always keen to meet new people and I think it's also important to make travellers feel welcome. At the moment I'm between jobs and between homes so when I'm more settled I'll be opening up my house to host people, so watch this space.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The craziest and most fun thing I've done recently was to do the North East skinny dip for the charity Mind. Three hundred people stand on the beach at Druridge Bay just before the sunrise at about 530am and one of the organisers stands there with a loud speaker counting down from ten while everyone takes their clothes of and legs it into the sea. I was quite a speedy one and got into the sea in time to turn around and see 200 or so naked people of all shapes and sizes running in my direction. I got the hysterical giggles. It was awesome, I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a TEFL so I can teach you English! And if it doesn't bore your socks of, I can tell you about anthropology.

I don't consider myself an expert in much but I will happily share my enthusiasm for films, fitness, capoeira and the outdoors with you :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a considerate, tidy, self-sufficient and outgoing person so I'm pretty certain I will be a good guest, adapting to your way of living.
