About Me
Hi there!
My name is Miriam, I'm 28, and I live in the Netherlands, in Enschede. Though since I've graduated, I spend less and less time at the home base, and more on adventures and mountains abroad!
I don't have a straightforward career. I've got endless amounts of temporary jobs. I used to make art installations for festivals and I got a uni degree, but I've decided to toss all of that away for now and try and shape a life in the outdoors as much as possible! In the city I am working as a route setter in the bouldering gym and as a teacher at kid's workshops. But in the meantime, I am working on becoming a climbing and hiking instructor and setting up my own mountain adventure travel company :) And I also like to spend a few months a year volunteering abroad.
I am very very passionate about climbing and mountains and outdoor adventures. And music, listening and making my own amateur music :). I also like yoga, theatre, dancing, poetry, chess, reading, board games and basically any new experience...
This summer I will be working in Vancouver with Mt Seymour, as a counselor on their summer camps! Early June, I will have two weeks before my job starts, to travel freely. I am hoping that the couch surfing community could help me here to meet people, have unexpected adventures and places to stay.
I have never really actively used couch surfing up until this point. You can always look up my instagram if you wanna check that I'm a real person :p

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music is usually somewhere within indie, punk, alternative, funk, soul,...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This April I went on my first backcountry hiking trip alone. Also decided to not use my phone for navigation, but go compass and map. And I prepped all the dehydrated food beforehand! I went to Snowdonia in North Wales and it was stunning :)))
Teach, Learn, Share
Making music together is always an option. I like improvising singing and lyrics and I got some basic guitar skills. I will teach you some Dutch too! I can also teach you the basics of sport climbing. Yoga too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking together (also don't mind cooking for someone else). And we can exchange books.
