Hi we are Miriam & Thomas

We were born and brought up in the high north of Germany. Our love to the sea brought us to North West Ireland, where we lived, worked and surfed for the last 4 years. We hit the road again last October: We gave up our little Irish cottage by the sea and are now travelling around the world.

We bought a car in Santiago de Chile and spent 9 months exploring South America! We're currently in New Zealand, and we are already looking forward to our next destinations Japan, Hawaii and Samoa.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

If you are travelling, getting in touch with local people is crucial if you want to get to know the culture; Couchsurfing is not the only way to do so, but a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and share stories! We made really good experiences in Chile and Peru, and continuing our trip, we are hoping to find such hospitality in the rest of the world too.

Travelling!

Anything water-related: SURFING above all, but we do kayaking, scuba diving, water-skiing, snorkeling, fishing, sailing ... or simply hanging out at the beach and watching the sea.

We are also into hiking, camping and other outdoor activities.... We love nature!

We love good food from all over the world and are eager to try out new things.

Music - anything that has a unique sound, from Johnny Cash to Rage Against the Machine to Black Keys
Movies - The Endless Summer! Miriam loves historical period drama, but Thomas doesn't share this interest ;)
Books - Miriam prefers classics and history books but she's open to any recommendation ;) Thomas is more into non-fiction

Moving to Ireland... What a wonderful country! Surfing in Ireland has been an amazing challenge. Cold, wet, windy - perfect!

We are always open if someone can share their skills and knowledge with us (pottery, car mechanics, ballet or Swahili, anything goes!) :D

We love to exchange interesting stories of any sort! We are happy to share our travelling experiences, particularly surfing tips. We love to eat and drink together with friends and would be delighted to cook for/with you! :)

Maybe you would like to practice your German or English with us too! Miriam worked as a German teacher in Ireland so she is happy to speak slowly and explain complicated grammar! :)
