About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Learn French.... it can't be that hard.....

Hiya.
So, I have recently finished a Masters degree in teaching English as a foreign language. I also have a Bachelor Degree in philosophy (less "useful" for employment, but definitely a great degree choice!)
In 2014 I decided to move from my beloved Hobart to France with my boyfriend, Yohan. Although I've lived here for a few years now, I still consider myself a tourist, and probably will continue to think that until I can speak french better... I'm getting better!

Yohan is French (hence moving here), and an all-round lovely guy. Between us, we speak fluent English, fluent French, average Spanish, and a tiny bit of German. We consider ourselves friendly, easy going, and happy to help others.

We have just moved to Isere, and are living with Yohan's family while we look for work... so unfortunately, we aren't able to host at the moment.

PHILOSOPHY

The meaning in life is to have experiences, good ones or not so good ones. They are all important, so get as many as you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was quite active with Couchsurfing a few years ago. I stayed with some really great people in some amazing places. Couch-Surfing has been good to me. I've met some incredible people and had experiences with them I couldn't have had travelling the traditional way... and with the money I saved on accommodation, I could spend on more important things (like an extra month abroad).

Interests

My interests are pretty standard. When I'm not working I enjoy super basic stuff..... watching a movie, reading a book, going for a walk or cycle, cooking etc.
However, if I have a long weekend or holidays, I love getting out of the house and visiting other places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I'm pretty obsessed with David Bowie, but a few of my other favourites include Lou Reed, Peaches, Nick Cave, Fiona Apple, Machine Gun Fellatio, M.I.A, Beyonce, Lorde, Leonard Cohen..... There's a lot more but if I were to list them all you would be bored.

Movies - It's a bit of a cliché, but I like almost everything.... except for the Spiderman movies.

Books - I'm working my way through the general list of "classics". I love dystopian fiction and books with philosophical undertones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my last year of uni, I went to the 2012 Kalachakra in Bodh Gaya - a 10 day teaching and initiation ceremony from the Dalai Lama! It was a pretty big life altering time.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - Ummm.... I know a little about Buddhist Philospshy if anyone is interested...

Learn - EVERYTHING!

Share - Id love to share a drink or a meal, and to tell and hear some stories! Ive got a pretty good one about peeing on a bus......

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very easy guest. I usually go somewhere with a pretty good idea of what I want to do and see, and am not needy at all :)
Though, I don't have every minute planned, so I am very open to suggestions and ideas of things to do. As a guest, I would also love to get to know you as well, over a meal, drink, hike or doing something else entirely.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
