One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling is my most valued experience. Society only learns from experience and without those experiences how can we accomplish new things?
I didn't know it at the time and it has only hit me now how important my travels have been to me. One especially comes into mind. In 2008 I had the opportunity to travel with some fellow companions to Outback (Rural Australia).
During the trip I had extremely bad hay fever for three days but that didn't stop me. On the Forth day the rain came and because it was the outback (dessert) the rain was welcomed. As the rain came down we lost power and decided to go for a walk in the rain. We walked until we met with the towns natural hot water spring which was amazing during the cool rain.
After that night my hay fever went away, I know that the grass was settled because of the rain but I like to think it was part of that beautiful night. Part of the trip was learning a great deal of Australia's Indigenous culture that many don't get the fortune to see, we were humbled by sleeping on floors and we learnt current hardships facing the people today, loss of culture, Indigenous dancing/singing, spiritual ceremonies, history and but I had learnt much more. I connected with the community and had such a wonderful time with had the best travelling companions anyone could ever ask for.
