About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm an early 20's corporate dropout. I can't quite understand how "living" is achieved in a cubicle so I'm at large in the world now hoping to experience life and happiness as others know it, and to discover all sorts of fancy things about myself
ABOUT ME
I recently left a cushy job in Chicago to escape my boring cubicle and Chicago's blistering winter. So I'm off to New Zealand! I'll have a short stop in Sydney first, but should arrive in NZ (which port yet to be decided) around the 20th and I'm going to explore from there! I'm planning to stay until March/April then I'm thinking of hopping over to South Africa or South America to visit some friends.I really enjoy getting out and exploring a location. Having lived in a larger city I tend to have an aversion toward "touristy" things but I'm sure I'll end up doing a couple while I'm in NZ. I love a good festival and I'm a sucker for a talented open mic night, but while I'm in NZ I'd like to get out of my urban mentality and enjoy the beauty of the land.
PHILOSOPHY
I am just trying to do this gift of life justice by living it as authentically as I can doing my best to share and participate in the bigger picture
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am hoping to surf when I arrive in New Zealand, other than that I met a great travel buddy here who will be joining me for part of my New Zealand journey- exciting!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have friends in Chicago that used to host and really enjoyed the experience. Other than that though, I haven't had any experiences myself yet but there are many to come!
Interests
I've been really into my books lately, but other than that I've been enjoying exploring new spaces and eating new foods. I live for great connections with people and interesting conversations. My New Years resolution this year was to drink more... so I should probably add that to my list of interests
- books
- beauty
- festivals
- dancing
- bachata
- beer
- drinking
- gardening
- traveling
- opera
Music, Movies, and Books
Oh my goodness, so much! I'm loving Anne Lammott's books at the moment and have been listening to a lot of Andrew Bird lately. As far as movies go, I honestly rarely have the time to watch them, but my favorites are Frida and Amelie, but they must be enjoyed with a glass of wine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw the Sydney Opera House yesterday! I really can't believe that I'm on the other side of the globe experiencing this great city!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am by no means a dancing queen but I know a little salsa, cha-cha, bachata so I could definitely teach you a few steps. And I want to learn about anything you have passion for, be that gardening, certain authors, or beer brewing I just love seeing people lit up with excitement
