About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Chase sun, do lots, own little and work even less

ABOUT ME

So I have spent the last three months on the stunning volcanic island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. I have had an amazing time at the beatiful Finca Bona Fide permiculture (new word, old methods me thinks) farm. I am a tree-planting, machete-wielding, jungle-clearing badass farmhand.

I live in San Jose, Costa Rica at the moment, working as an English teacher. Have been working like mad since i arrived in January. And it's time now to cut back on the work and start making the most of this place. Before CR, I was in south west USA working in the national parks for three months. Amazing experience...just camping out, awesome scenery, getting to play in the dirt, fresh air and falling asleep exhausted. After working for a shipping company for two years this was heaven.

I tend to go with the flow and don't plan much, decisions are made on impulse with a belief that thing wil turn out good in the end. And so far it's taken me a lot of great places.

My favourite things are dancing, eating, sunshine and chitchating and cycling. My humour is on the sarcastic side and I appreciate that in others.

PHILOSOPHY

Life's too short to be stuck in an office for 40 years of your life, there is another way....who needs a mortgage, pension and a million types of insurance. There's too much stuff in the world....your possessions end up owning you. Take risks, be nice to people, you'll get in back one way or another. and I nearly forgot...have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Watch this space....who know's yet where this couch surfing is going to take me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first real contact with couch surfing came through my old housemate in Liverpool, she used have people stop at out house, I thought it was a cool concept. I also went out with her to some of the meetings, I loved this thing of total strangers just meeting up with an open mind, you experience this all the time travelling but not usually in your home town. Also one of the meetings was at a salsa club and there began my love of latin dancing, more the merengue than salsa...but maybe that's because it's easier, dare i even say simple after a few beers.
