ABOUT ME

I guess you could say I'm a simple Canadian girl. If you did, you'd be partially right, I suppose.
I live and love Vancouver B.C. I was born and raised here and no matter where I go in the world, every time I see the city appear through the clouds as we descend, I get that warm fuzzy home feeling.
I work in horticulture and I am trained as a florist. I also spent a couple year stint doing tree-planting so I'd consider myself a bit of a plant and flower junkie..
I love to travel, and other than Vancouver, I have lived in Montreal and the Quintana Roo state of Mexico. Meeting people, interacting with different cultures, sharing knowledge, that sounds about right to me!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I'm new, so I guess I haven't participated much at all yet..but I'd like to!
When I return from traveling, I'd be glad to host and meet with people..
I'm looking forward to seeing what other things are going on in the CS community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and surfed numerous times in different areas of the world but never through this site, only though personally cultivated relationships. I've had both good and not so good experiences. I have wonderful friends who both stay with me when they are in Vancouver and offer their places when I'm in their town and its a great set-up.
I had a less than perfect experience with my last surf as I was staying at the home of a friend and her new boyfriend in Mexico. By the second day, they had begun to fight...Now we are talking about doors slamming, tears, her locking herself in the bathroom, screaming...I lasted only a couple of days before I politely thanked them for the offer, packed up, and payed to rent a room...
You can't win them all, I suppose =P

Interests

I make feather earrings...I love feathers..
I love to dance and in Vancouver I do Cuban salsa which is sooo much fun.
I want to eat all the time..if you could marry inanimate objects; I would marry a bowl of pasta, or a taco, or possibly an order of sashimi...
Given that I love food so much, I picked up some cooking skills. I enjoy trying to cook dishes from all over the world..

Music, Movies, and Books

I am obsessed with music, pretty much anything but I'm a soul, funk, latin, reggae, hip-hop, folk sort of girl for the most part.
I watch a lot of documentaries and have a terrible guilty softness for girly romantic comedies but I'll watch whatever gets put on.
I read a bit of everything..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Mexico was an amazing and eye opening experience for me.
Also tree-planting was a life changing event. Its really the most perfect balance between heaven and hell.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to help people who are trying to improve their English, and I could probably get away with teaching some basic Spanish if anyone wanted. Salsa dancing, jewelry making, flower arranging, cooking some Teenah specialties...
I'd love to improve both my Spanish and my French.
