About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore anything and everything, to experience all I can and leave some happiness along the way
ABOUT ME
I'm 39 and live in Durham where I came to as a student few years ago and have yet to move on. I work for a local wildlife charity and have over the past few years done a number of bike rides to raise money for local hospices. I am interested in various aspects of personal development and want to develop this into a successful career.
PHILOSOPHY
I suppose my philosophy of life is that the best way to get the most out of it is to explore as many new things as possible which means I always like to try out new things and meet new people. I usually find that the further outside my comfort zone, the more rewarding I find it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to couchsurfing, but am interested in meeting new people through it!!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed a number of couches in San Francisco and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Interests
Where to start. I have a wide variety of interests but my loves are skydiving, playing the guitar(mainly 70s rock) and travelling. I like cooking particularly Indian food and I am something of an animal lover (especially dogs)although I don't own any at the moment. I dabble in art, music, adademia and adventure sports and do my best to enjoy them despite varying amounts of talent.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies that make me laugh, which have a mystery at the heart of them, a great twist or which frighten me. Among my favourites are Life of Brian, South Park, Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, Fight Club, Usual Suspects, Last Seduction, Ringu, The Orphanage, as well as the Raiders, Star Wars and Terminator series.
The same applies to books although I tend to read more non-fiction than fiction. I like reading science books because I want to know more about how the world/universe works and the more I find out about it the more amazing, weird and wonderful I think it is, so I like writers like Stephen Hawking, Richard Dawkins, as well as philosphers. Just read Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert which is one hulluva interesting read.
For fiction I love Douglas Adams and Conan Doyle and am something of a Harry Potter fan.
Musically, I like most things but especially rock music from the 70s and 80s when I grew up. That's what I'd take with me to a desert island anyway, but I also like classical music and opera. Jazz? depends very much on what it is.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing things I have done have been travelling in South America which is the most beautiful challenging and exciting place I've ever been to.
The most amazing things I've seen are Machu Pichu and the Amazon jungle, for the same reasons.
There is one even more amazing thing I've done but it's something I'd rather keep private
