ABOUT ME

In my twenties I was a very adventurous traveller, including sailing in the South Pacific, living with Hadza hunter-gatherers in Tanzania, and spending a couple months with the Matses tribe in the Peruvian Amazon, then a year with the Bora (also in the Amazon), where I was taught by a traditional indigenous wisdom-keeper.

In the last few years I have had a quieter life, mostly living in Wales. I am now in the process of moving to Canada with my partner (who is English but has a Canadian passport as well). We are hoping to find a nice co-housing / eco-community place in British Columbia to move to.

I used to pay for my explorations by working as an accountant in 6-month stints between travels. In the last couple of years I have been making enough money to get by through investing in shares (in companies helping with the energy transition etc) and writing a book about how we can create a better economic system. I am very interested in ways we can build a better society (not just in terms of the economic system).

I am travelling with my partner Megan who's a lovely lady and says she's 'bringing a ukulele and is not afraid to use it.'

We go hiking lots and generally enjoy outdoor activities. As well as visiting co-housing communities we want to learn about & experience all the good things and lifestyles British Columbia has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So many great experiences already! Couchsurfing was obviously going to be awesome, but whatever expectations i might have had have easily been exceeded time and again.

So far i have: Met some incredible people, got inside experiences of many places, found a place to rent through couchsurfing, made immediate friends when moving to a new town for a month, been inspired in so many ways.

Unfortunately while i was in London my living situation meant i couldn't offer my place to couchsurfers, although i did manage to put up some french hitchhikers i met at a gig for a few days.

I wrote this music selection in 2014 but my tastes haven't changed much... All kinds of music, anything that sounds good to my ears... I used to read quite a lot of literature, my favourite book being 100 Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez). Recently I have mostly been reading non-fiction about alternative societal ideas (especially economic ideas but lots of others too).

I mostly watch movies when other people put them on. A few years ago Megan & I went through a period of watching sci-fi movies, my favourite was Arrival.

I helped a group of indigenous Amazonians build a traditional maloca and then lived in it & got taught by a traditional wisdom-keeper for 8 months.

I can juggle. I know lots of weird facts and have unusual ideas. I've got a few stories too.

I like learning most things.
