About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learning and teaching

ABOUT ME

I love language, learning, global families, food, trees, my grandma, monuments, children, kittycats, history, outer space, MUSIC, singing, dancing, bears, dry wit, HUGGS, people who get worked up about things, and things being different colors.

PHILOSOPHY

Find something that feels right/kind/just and live by it.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met some couch-surfing girls that my roommate invited to our place last year. They were nice.

Interests

Differing points of view. How to save the world. How to survive when the world ends. How to get lazy teenagers to learn a foreign language. How to help good teenagers to overcome social and economic obstacles. I read a lot, I study a lot, I sew things and go for walks. I love all kinds of music, all kinds and I like to dance.

Music, Movies & Books

Right now I'm reading "Miracle in the Hills: the lively personal story of a woman doctor's 40-year crusade in the mountains of North Carolina." I like ethnography, history, sometimes novels in French and the Spanish or Mexican news. I am all about all different kinds of music, living in France has made me more open to things like Lady Gaga but I normally am more into jazz, soul, r-n-b, funk, indie, new wave/eighties, psychadelic and classic rock too. I really love music but hesitate to call myself a "music person" because I often don't remember the names of songs or even musicians! And movies, of course I love lots of them, independent films and mainstream alike, especially sci-fi and apocalyptic movies. Nothing excites me more than the end of the world!

One Amazing Thing I've Done

The Drakensburg ampitheater in South Africa

I gave birth!

Teach, Learn, Share

Give me some ingredients, however simple, and we'll figure out how to make a good meal. There is nothing more human than sharing a meal together.
Also, I am patient with my friends who are learning English--if you want to work on your English or French I would be happy to help.

Countries I've Visited

Canada, Germany, Lesotho, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey

Countries I've Lived In

France, South Africa, United States
