About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to do more than just see the sights. I want to meet local people and see how they really live. If you stay with me we'll try to grill some burgers in the backyard or grab some fresh seafood from somewhere local.

ABOUT ME

Well I used to be a stripper with the Chunk and Dale dancers. but that was a niche market so I had to go to grad school. Say what you will about economists, but I figured out a way to have lots of flexible time for travel. Couldn't have done that if I'd stayed in insurance.

I really really love food. I always want to try new dishes. I love to talk about food or even the business of food and restaurants. If you show me a new recipe from a new land, I'm a happy happy camper.

PHILOSOPHY

I think the philosopher David Spade said it best when he said, "You have to keep on keeping on." But then "Bias for Action" is also a good philosophy. Probably much better than my philosophy of "bias for sitting in front of the computer pissing my life away."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

hosting, surfing, showing people around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, when I was a kid and we'd visit my grandparents. My parents would sleep in the guest bedroom. My sister would sleep in my uncle's old room, and I'd sleep on the couch.

I've met Zoe for Greek cooking lessons in Athens.

Interests

I like long walks on the beach and romantic dinners. Oh wait, that's my interest on the dating website. I like spanking and fantasy games. Oops again. Still other website. I think my interests are that I'm interested in things that are interesting.

Learning to cook some Thai dishes at a random restaurant ın Ko Thao

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can eat fire, but I'm not sure I'd want to teach that skill. I can cook most Creole/Cajun dishes and some other foods. I make decent Southern pork barbecue and shrimp and grits. I'd love to learn some quirky and completely useless skill as well as I really should learn to dance. Right now I dance like I'm having an epileptic seizure.

If you are a photographer, I will pester you with lots of questions. That's one of my goals to become a better travel photographer.

GIS. Beware of putting down GIS. I really will ask you millions of questions about that.
