Hi my name is Mitchell and I am a travel addict. It all began in 2006, when I was in grade 11, with my first trip to Japan. I was blissfully naive and emboldened by my first taste of freedom of traveling without my parents. A one week home stay with my Japanese host family opened my eyes to a side of traveling that I will never forget. It was immersive, unexpected, and unforgettable!

I love exploring the world and meeting amazing people with diverse backgrounds. I am one part Danish, one part Japanese and I grew up in Canada. I have also briefly lived in Sweden and Japan. I currently work as real estate appraiser in Victoria, Canada.

My ideal couch surfing experience involves getting to know fellow couch surfers over delicious food and drinks with a dash of adventure.

I joined Couchsurfing in 2011 while traveling in Europe. At the time, I was looking for a way to travel more affordably. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendships I made and the amazing experiences that I had while couch surfing. For me, couch surfing is a way to connect, share, learn, laugh, and explore with wonderful people. I love being part of a community that brings out the best in people!
