Chi sono

ABOUT ME

What would my best friends say about me? Well, they'd probably start with the obvious. I'm a 20 year student. Normally, I'd be enrolled in a Bachelor of International Studies at UNSW (Sydney) but for the school year starting in 2012, I'll be on exchange at ESSEC Business School, Paris.

But what else would they say? That's a tough one. I'd like to think that they'd say something like "Mitch is awesome! Best guy ever!" But I'm pretty sure they know me to be the optimistic friend who really likes to laugh, listen and give good advice (sometimes). I do like a good conversation and love learning new things, meeting new people and exploring new places.

Interessi

The people in my life! Need I say more? Who doesn't like hanging out with loved ones, catching up with old friends or meeting new ones? I really like getting to know people and hearing their stories.

Books and movies! I love a good story, no matter what medium they're presented on (anything Harry Potter, Jasper Fforde or Game of Thrones are particular favourites at the moment, but I like a whole lot more).

I'm a little bit of an animal nerd. At one stage in my life, I actually wanted to be a vet. I currently have 3 dogs and would like a whole lot more. My favourite animal would be the hippo, but check again because it changes.

Other than that, I would say that I also enjoy reading up on things about popular psychology and popular linguistics, as well as keeping fit and healthy.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Having lived in Sydney all my life, this has been the one big chance that I've had to travel - and it has been an awesome year already!

The first one would be my arrival in Paris. I was feeling pretty gross after my 20 hour flight (not to mention the three hour stopover) and got lost on the Parisian Metro for about 2 hours, lugging around 30 kilos of luggage. When I had finally emerged from the underground, I was still dazzled by the magic of the simple Parisian street with all it's charm. I couldn't wait to drop everything and explore. (But I didn't, I spent about an extra hour looking for my place to stay, which was really only about 10 minutes away).

The second one would have to be my first day in Venice (which is where I'm writing this from!). After a long day of exploring and getting lost in the seemingly infinite twists and turns of the Venetian alleys, I sat down and watched the buildings of St. Mark's Square turn into silhouettes against the fiery red-orange sky as the sun set. It was simply stunning.

I'm meant to write a third one, but I suppose I don't have one yet, but I guess that's a space that will fill as I travel around during my year abroad!I am keen for new experiences and will give everything a go!
