About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To understand what makes the world and its inhabitants tick

ABOUT ME

We're a laid back couple that love to travel and see the world for ourselves. Generally spontaneous but don't mind last minute detours or plans. We like to take life as it comes and just ride to where ever it might take us. The bumps and bruises along the way are what make it interesting. ^_^ We love meeting new people and getting a chance to see somewhere from their point of view.

PHILOSOPHY

Still working on it.

Everything we do is formative and has a knock on effect on other aspects of our life. Whatever I could write here would be out of date the second after I had written.

I personally want to experience the world, see how the rest of the world live and hear their take on different aspects of life on this planet. I want to breathe the air on different continents and hopefully take pretty pictures along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're currently offering someplace to stay in Manchester, UK until we leave to go traveling.

Then we'll be looking for couches and can share skills and experiences along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Travelling is a personal thing and you can do it without moving.

Interests

Reading, hiking, camping, photography, music, anime and reading manga, video games, cooking, dancing, painting, sunny days, lazy summers, cozy winters, playing guitar, DVDs, the occasional comic (Spawn or The Darkness) and a whole host of other things!

Tez wants to have dreadlocks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock, metal, jazz, soul, oldies, 70s rock, 80s rock, classical and pretty much everything that sounds cool and we can sing to. Don't really care for raio-friendly pop or commercial metal bands that all dress the same and think they're cool because they sound like everybody else. If you're going to do it, do it your own way!

As for books- we read quite frequently. We have quite a large book collection ranging from Dante to Koontz to Asimov to other random things like JB Huggins, some classics, some other personal favourites and many more besides. The last few weeks have been spent poring over maps and Lonely Planet guides though to try and figure out some kind of plan for this upcoming adventure.

As for movies: well, just about anything. Some make you laugh, some make you cry, some make you cringe and some make you wonder what the hell were they thinking when they made them (Jigsaw and the Scary Movie series for 2) but we'll watch anything and give it a go. I think the last movie we saw at the movies was Cloverfield...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tez: Seen the sunset and seen it rise without sleeping. Walked through warm rain on a cloudless day (only in England). I'm still friends with people from my childhood despite the miles between us. Found an egg with 2 yolks inside. Figured out 'Polly' on acoustic guitar. Dissected a cow's heart, a pig's eyeball, a sheep's lung and a frog. Have magnified a newspaper with the lens from said eyeball. Taught myself how to paint. Taught myself how to play guitar. Taught myself how to take (good) pictures in and out of a studio. Learnt a lot about the insides of the Professional Wrestling circuit (cowboy handshake anyone?). Seen a dog die. Seen people smile at funerals. Seen people cry at weddings. Was best man at my dear friend's wedding and people laughed at the speech (in a good way). Was featured in a photography magazine and got some free stuff. Am friends with some amazing people. Taught my friend how to play guitar on a moonlit beach. Minced ALL the meat from an entire cow and made sausages with it. Wore a facemask. Been bitten by a mosquito on the sole of my left foot. My grandmother has met the queen!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can teach you how to play a tune on the guitar and I can also teach you everything I know about photography (which isn't much!) and a whole host of post-processing tips & tricks. I make a mean chilli con-carne and my stir fry occasionally gets praise (after the choking ;)). I can teach you a few things about oil painting too if you would like to know.

Mia can teach you all about muscle groups and how to take care of yourself better and if you have some kind of niggling problem, chances are she can help you with it.

I would like to learn to play different kinds of musical instruments (i've been playing guitar for 10 years). And I think Mia would like to learn new dances from around the globe, oh, and how to speak Japanese :)

I'd also like to learn how to transmute lead into gold and water into wine but that hasn't happened yet.
