About Me

I'm 23 but have the heart of a 56 year old, studied in New York, studied in Berlin, worked in Izmir, now studying in Ankara. Before that I was teaching English.

Most people like me. I like most people. I don't like Nazis. I talk a lot.

I've been Couchsurfing for 4 years, it's changed a lot. But I believe the people on this site keep the spirit alive, actually caring about their guests/hosts, wanting to meet new people not just to get to know new 'cultures' but to get to know new, interesting, individual persons.

My life has changed from Couchsurfing, 75% of my friends I either gained directly or indirectly on two continents, and I'm always up for a beer or a water or a gazoz and a talk and a meal and a walk around the city, wherever it may be, as host or as traveler.

"Wohin wollen Sie gehen?"
"Dorthin, wo man mir sagt: 'Du bist Gast hier'œ und ich antworten kann: "Ja gerne!"

Kein Mensch is(s)t illegal. Refugees are welcome!

Stand up against injustice. Doesn't matter how big or small, don't let yourself get walked on, and more importantly, don't let others get walked on. Raise your voice when need be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

New York.
Berlin. Montréal. Wien. Budapest. Rostock. Baile Átha Cliath. Lisboa.
İstanbul. Ankara. Samsun. Trabzon. Erzurum. Gaziantep. Antakya.
İzmir. Αθήνα. Eskişehir.

Things I've discovered through Couchsurfing:

Other people are so much cooler than me.
I can't play basketball.
Put something on top of fries and it will taste good.
Nobody makes strawberries like Québec.
Always have an umbrella.
Addresses don't always exist.
Vienna has much better Mexican food than Berlin.
Wearing shoes with holes in them is not smart in Dublin.

I ride my bike when it's not stolen.
I make stencils and spray t-shirts and other stuff.
I cook 5 different meals.
I write poems and short stories.
I translate articles for a magazine that I like.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now really into Berliner Schule and old Turkish movies. Huge fan of Thomas Arslan and Fatih Akin.

Currently very big into German hip hop, but I listen to anything, really. Not too much pop, though.

Brecht is the best, but I also love Emine Sevgi Özdamar and Selim Özdogan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having a logical conversation with my 1.5 year old niece for the first time on Skype.

Signed up for really has changed my life for the better in so many ways.

I know a lot about languages, especially German and English, and love talking politics and about sociological stuff as well.
