About Me

I'm currently a 20-year-old undergraduate student studying Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at UC Berkeley. However, this semester I am working in Leipzig, Germany as a visiting researcher (studying artificial intelligence). I will be here for 10 weeks from April 4th to June 10th.

I've never actually had a chance to explore Europe, so this is my perfect chance! I'm hoping to use some of the money I've saved to go to as many awesome destinations as I can on weekends. A bunch of two-day trips is not ideal, but I still want to make the most of my time in this foreign place.

As for some more personal info:
My Myers-Briggs personality type is INTJ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INTJ)
I'm a rather neat-and-clean, organized guy. I'm on the quiet side since I generally prefer listening to and learning from others. Also, I can pretty much sleep anywhere, but I'm a particular fan of sleeping on the ground. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard from friends that Couchsurfing is the *best* way to immerse yourself in the culture of a new place, i.e. not to just see all the touristy attractions, but to really get a feel for what makes a place special — food, nightlife, community — I want to explore it all! I probably don't know the native language of wherever I'm going to be, so it's a wonderful help to have a little guidance. I'm a pretty curious person, so how better to learn about the place where I'm staying than by talking to those who live there! It's hard to talk to a stranger on the street, but Couchsurfing gives me an excuse to ask all the questions I have! Obviously, I hope not to just bombard hosts with questions, but ultimately to find interesting common ground and have some insightful conversations. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm a big fan of anything that either gets me super pumped-up or super calm. That translates into Hip-Hop / Rap (Eminem, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Kid Cudi, Dr. Dre, Childish Gambino) and Film Scores / Classical (Hans Zimmer, John Williams, JS Bach).

Movies: Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Memento. As you can see, I'm a big Christopher Nolan fan. Other favorites include V for Vendetta, Gone Girl, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix, The Bourne Trilogy, Finding Nemo.

TV Series: House of Cards, House M.D., How I Met Your Mother, Sherlock

Books: Harry Potter Series, Flatland. I don't actually read very much fiction. :(

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, since I've lived my whole life in the USA (Washington DC, San Francisco, Boston, Santa Fe, Los Angeles), whatever you are curious to know more about I'd love to discuss! I'm particularly interested in how countries differ from the US (e.g. in government, culture, philosophy). I'm a huge sports fan and I like experimenting when it comes to cooking (Sometimes I get a little too crazy and things don't taste great; other times I create something that perhaps looks crappy but tastes fantastic.). We can be mad scientists together!
