Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

I want to explore Europe and all the great history and culture the different countries have to offer.

ABOUT ME

I'm a History Major in Greensboro, NC in the USA and I'm studying abroad in Hull this semester. I'm 21 years old. I love to travel and have, unfortunately, not had a chance to do much of it. I hope I can travel a lot while I'm here and make a bunch of great memories to carry around with me. After I graduate in May 2013, I'll probably enter a Master's program in History.

PHILOSOPHY

Let go, live life, and learn as much as you can while you're here.

Sometimes, I catch myself getting too caught up in minute details, but it's good to let things go once in a while. I'd like to come out on the other end of all this feeling like I've accomplished something, not just sat on the sidelines.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't participated yet, but when I do, I'll mostly surf for the next few months. I'm studying abroad this semester and I'd like to travel as much as possible. Once I go home, I'd love to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had one yet. My flat mate and traveling partner, Natasha Stopa, recommended that I sign up. From what she's told me, couch surfing is a really great experience. I can't wait!

Intereses

I spent a lot of my time reading. I'm interested in the past, which I guess makes sense as I'm studying history. In particular, I study European history. I love architecture and the sensation of walking into somewhere really and truly old and well used. It's like looking at the stars to feel the breadth of space, but instead, being somewhere old enough that it makes you realize how massive our history is.

More actively, I'm fond of yoga, card games, reading and coffee.

Música, películas y libros

I love a lot music and finding those artists that are just a step shy of the beaten track. Right now, I'm listening to a lot of Sea Wolf, Alex Winston, Radical Face, and Fun.

My favorite movies include "Garden State", "The Princess Bride", "(500) Days of Summer", and "A Very Long Engagement".

My favorite book of all time has to be "Everything is Illuminated" by Jonathan Safran Foer, but I read a lot. Recently, I read "Starter for Ten" by David Nicholls, and I'm a complete sucker for "Harry Potter" and books that take you somewhere different.

Algo increíble que he hecho

My father's an architect. When I was a little girl, I used to go with him to renovations of old churches. Once, I was there when they were digging up the floor of a really old church (or, as long a church as you can get in the US). They'd found a crypt they didn't know was there and I found some broken pottery that I got to take home with me. That's when I realized how much I like history and architecture. It's definitely had a hand in shaping who I am today.

I want to see places that people hold significant and uncover tidbits from the past. I want to know how people lived a long time ago, but also how they live now.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Oh dear... I'm not entirely sure I know anything that practical, but I'll give it a shot!

I know a ridiculous amount about 1950s suburban architecture, courtesy of a project I did last year at my home university. I used to play percussion, so if anyone is interested in learning how to play a marimba with four mallets, I can help you with that :). I study religious studies as well as history at my home university, so I've spent a lot of time learning about different religious traditions, especially Judaism and Buddhism. Also, at home, I'm a barista. I know a fair amount about coffee and I can make latte art with the right milk.
