ABOUT ME
Having grown up in the 'Jackass' (the TV show) era, I love doing stupid stuff. Whether it is having a dance off at Carnival while wearing wearing a full-body green Lycra suit, or going cliff diving in small town NC, I love pushing the limit.
Admittedly though, I cannot go full speed all the time. Between having a father who is a history professor and majoring in Political Science, I've developed love exploring the untold stories of historical and contemporary politics.
One of my favorite things to do is to people watch. I have the uncanny ability to look at a person, and tell you their life story (made up of course).
PHILOSOPHY
The biggest epiphany of my Erasmus (formally ISEP, not Erasmus) trip came in the first week. Having been out of my home country for the first time, all on my own, halfway around the world, I realized that I was learning more about the US than I ever could in 20 years of living there. I realized that I'd have to not only see all of my own country, but also the rest of the world, to really get my bearings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, I have no couch available for a few months as I am doing so much traveling of my own, but I will whole-heartedly open my couch to any contentious visitors when I return home in a few months.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am relatively new to Couch Surfing. I was turned on to it by a trip to Brugge that resulted with me and one friend having no place to stay.
Luckily for us, a nice couple offered to let us sleep on their couch and it was really a great experience!
Interests
I have to confess, I love some of the touristy stuff in towns. Not because I want to get that perfect picture of me sitting at Buckingham Palace or because I'd rather sit in an air-conditioned bus, but because the people who host them always seem to carry a sense of national pride and can tell you more about their country than most locals. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer to see the local's side of a town (which is why I couch surf), but I've found all too often that most locals only know their favorite pub and their walk to work. When I go to a new country, I want to know what makes it tick.
To answer the question more thoroughly though, I like:
-Parties (big or small)
-Water Sports (I've got a Hobie 16)
-The Beach (I live less than 5 minutes away in NC)
-Politics (especially political discussions)
-Beer (in every possible way)
-Adventure (living on the edge)
-Parachuting (have yet to do it, but will ASAP)
-Soccer (Play when I was younger, love the sport
though, not necessarily the teams)
