ABOUT ME

I'm 25- I'm still figuring stuff out. Life is a work always in progress, and I don't know where I'm going, but I'm happily on my way.

PHILOSOPHY

"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be." - Douglas Adams.
This is pretty perfect. I've spent a lot of time worrying about what I am supposed to be doing, or where I'm supposed to end up, but as time goes on, I'm slowly beginning to grasp the concept of faith: whatever needs to happen will. I just have to keep my eyes open to the opportunities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing, but I am drawn to the spirit of it. I dislike the idea of being a "tourist"- and have found that the essence of a place is best reflected by the people that live there.

Interessi

I love language- the way words can simultaneously liberate and limit people, the infinite ways people can manipulate words, to create and destroy and define and imagine. As a correlation to that, I am fascinated by translation, and actually enjoy grammar and editing.

I'm a sensual person: i like smells, and textures, and colors, and sounds. I wouldn't consider myself an artist or a photographer, but I like to play with these things.

I really enjoy food and cooking. It's so basic and fundamental. Sometimes, when life gets very abstract and problems seem very big, cooking a meal with real ingredients brings me back to something that feels right.

I'm a big fan of walking: I only recently bought a car- and most times would prefer to walk where I'm going. You get fresh air, and the time to see a place as you pass it by, and time to be alone with yourself.

Musica, film e libri

Words! I love words! It would take me forever to list off all the books I love, but some favorite authors include: Louis De Bernieres, Haruki Murakami, Marguerite Duras, Michael Pollan, Anna Gavalda.

Music- It's so personal. I have a lot of music, with the hope that I'll always have something to fit every mood.

I've been in Portland a long time- so I know the city pretty well, and I'd love to share my love of the place.

I also, as stated above, love language, and would be happy to trade language skills.

As for cooking- I don't know if I'd be a very good teacher- but I'm also always enthusiastic to make food for people, and share recipes!
