Overview
About Me
Fourth year history student at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I've been very fortunate to travel quite extensively already and I'm always looking and planning for the next opportunity.
As a history student my main focus when travelling abroad is always on the local history. Almost everything in Canada is so young compared to many of the world's cultures, but that doesn't mean there is any less to see and learn about our past. I have been able to travel briefly through my studies, but would like to further this by doing a year abroad as an international student.
In the next several years I intended to complete the "Triple Crown of Hiking" by completing the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail in the United States. In addition to this, I would like to walk to length of Great Britain from Land's End in the southwest of England to John o'Groats in the northeast of Scotland.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My favourite part of visiting a new place is finding interesting and out of the way places that you wouldn't have access to by just staying in the big cities and doing the guided tours. A service like couchsurfing allows me to get of the well-worn track and experience something different and interesting, as well as meet other cool people from all over the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most interesting things I've done was dive in between the continental plates in Iceland. At Þingvellir National Park there is a fissure in the rock known as "Silfra" that was formed as the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart. The water in the fissure is perfectly crystal clear, filtered down through a glacier over tens of thousands of years. It's clean enough to drink from, although so cold you may not want to. Swimming beneath the water felt almost like being in zero gravity - it was so clear you forgot you were even underwater. At several points the fissure is narrow enough you can stop and place one hand on either continental plate, a very unique experience to be sure. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Iceland. If you want to do the tour but don't have a diving certification that's alright, they offer snorkel trips as well!
