Hi, I'm Mykaela! I'm very passionate about traveling and excited to start my solo traveling journey :) I'm from Michigan, but I moved to Toronto for school when I was 17, and now I spend a lot of time in São Paulo, where my partner is from. I'm currently working as an early literacy tutor online where I teach children how to read, and soon I'll be going back to university to get my bachelor's degree in business management.

During the summer of 2024, I found an interest in Geocaching, and I've recently decided to make it a goal to collect all of their location-based souvenirs! It's a fun way to get outside and go places I've never been/wouldn't have thought of going on my own. Along the way, I'm also hoping to meet new people and have as many new experiences as possible!

Music, Movies, and Books

I’ve worked at a concert venue the past couple of summers so I’ve gotten the chance to see a lot of great artists live. I love all kinds of music, but I mostly listen to pop, indie, and rock.

My favorite movie of all time is The Jungle Book, but you can’t go wrong with almost any classic Disney film! Some of my other favorites are Everything Everywhere All At Once, Poor Things, Midsommar, and Promising Young Woman

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I travelled without my parents was a 5-week long trip throughout southern Brazil with my partner. Both planning and going on this trip is a big part of what kickstarted my passion for traveling, as well as my confidence in doing so!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have any interest in Geocaching, I would love a partner and could show you the ropes!
While I'm in school, I'll be studying in cafes pretty frequently while traveling, so I'd love you buy you a coffee/tea/anything else if you'd like to come along- I would also love some recommendations on good study cafes in return :)
My Portuguese isn't nearly good enough to teach anyone, but I could share my experiences travelling around Brazil and give you some tips/recommendations if you're interested in going!
I'm awful at cooking, but I really want (and probably need) to learn, so if you ever need any help making a meal, I could be your assistant lol
