About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To drive my car into the 200,000 miles bracket and just keep going until the wheels drop off.

ABOUT ME

Almost 29, about to live in my 4th European country. Love life and live it, indulging in new experiences as well as local customs. Proud of being a Northerner, love my Geordie accent and enjoy meeting exciting and unusual people. I go the extra mile to help others and I am always keeping busy and find it hard to stay still!

PHILOSOPHY

Life should be about the experiences you have and the people you meet, rather than what you possess. Moving again to anther country I notice my load gets lighter each time! Have fun, care about others and do unto them as you would expect to have done to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been attending some meeting in Prague, but due to my living circumstances I have been unable to host. I have had coffee and drinks with other hosts who have had surfers. My first surf was in Kosovo, and I was really scared-but the experience was very positive (and slightly humbling) After that I surfed in Greece and in Sofia. Each experience was very different, but I thoroughly enjoyed them all

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, as I said, the first time was in Kosovo, we met a really cool guy called Ed, and we drank in his coffee bar. We were treated like old friends. Then we surfed in Thessaloniki with a guy who was a CS addict! There were about 4 other people surfing in his home. Not only was he a great host, but there were some really interesting surfers there too. I also surfed with a cool guy in Sofia, he made us a lovely meal and the following day i was thrilled to find out he was a masseuse, so it was a lovely way to unwind on the last day of my trip before I boarded the flight home. Bliss Since then I have surfed in my new city Den haag, and i met a really outgoing ad lively guy with whom I have maintained contact, a real character who has shown me such a fun side of the city.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Labyrinth with David Bowie, any tim Burton movies, animations etc. With music, I generaly veer towards 80's stuff, but will pretty much tolerate all genres. I really enjoyed reading Perfume by Patrick Suskind although I quite liked the Kite Runner and recently I succumbed to the Harry Potter books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was pretty amazing when I met Hello Kitty in Hong Kong aged 15. I'd had an obsession with it for quite a while, and hey- I know it was just someone in a suit, but I have the photograph in a dusty album, and you can see on my face that it's pure delight. I also drove from Portugal to Prague which was pretty incredible and dodged the swiss customs when I had no vignette!

Teach, Learn, Share

I wouldn't say I was your average teacher! I certainly haven't been raised in a middle class idyll for sure. I had a tough start, but I worked hard in life and have achieved some good things! Even when a situation has been almost desperate, I have found the strength to get through it and turn it around. I like people who are open and honest about their trials and tribulations and how they overcame challenges they have faced.
