Overview
About Me
Raised in Cairo, I moved to the United States to study neuroscience at Amherst College. I love the field because it's fascinating to learn about what makes us unique as humans! I am very interested in exploring different cultures to understand how traditions emerge and learn more how to celebrate differences.
I am currently going to embark on a fellowship to travel across the globe to work with refugee communities to investigate the art of healing - and how one can heal from the trauma of dislocation. It is my aim to raise awareness about the nuance of those experiences and highlight narratives in this current global crisis.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best way to learn about a culture is to live with a local. I enjoy meeting and celebrating with people the complexities that make us who we are. Therefore, I found that Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to become more of an informed traveler than a tourist.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book may be Dom Casmurro by Machado de Assis or Spirits Rebellious by Khalil Gibran. As for music, I enjoy many genres, but find myself drawn to music one can dance or sing to!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once got lost in Taiwan and figured a way to go back to my cohort without knowing the local language. Communication doesn't always necessarily have to involve words!
What I Can Share with Hosts
