One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I could write books about them, here is one:
Picture this: Colombia, 2019. I'm working there and decide to hang out with some local friends I'd just met. We hit up the movies and we caught the last screening of the day. Afterwards, my friends asked if I want to try the "best coffee in the world." I mean, I've heard that line a million times while traveling, but I figured I'd give it a shot - after all, Colombia is known for its coffee, right?
We hop in the car and drive for a good 30 minutes, leaving the city lights behind and heading into the unknown. We pull up to an abandoned petrol station on the outskirts of town, and I can feel my heart rate pick up. Are these guys about to rob me? Am I about to become a victim of organ theft?
Thankfully, it turns out my friends weren't murderers or thieves. Nope, they just wanted to take me to an old coffee vending machine that only took coins. The vending machine was in a gloomy area, but as soon as I took a sip of the coffee, I forgot all about my nerves. This coffee was on another level - I'm talking mind-blowing, out-of-this-world delicious.
These kinds of wild experiences are why I love traveling. You never know what kind of adventure or surprise is waiting around the corner.
