actually there is many reasons and i'm going to tell u what are they, but in my opinion the most important reason of couchsurfing is to get to know to locals and meeting them to recognize their habits and culture(culture exchange). if u want to discover a country go deep to it's locals and try to touch and feel the way the live, the food they eat, the habits the have, the ideas they got , not staying at glorious hotels then u will discover nth.
