About Me

Hello, I am Mohit Kumar/Mohit Dhillon from a small village in Haryana. My whole life is revolved around the village and agriculture which interests me in exploring new places. Currently, I am a student at IIT Guwahati pursuing my BTech in Computer science and Engineering. My overall day revolves around taking a whole bunch of classes and then coding but what gives me good sleep at night is watching a new travel video every day and dreaming of myself the same someday. And this is my first step towards it. I can assure you I will be a nice guest to you and would like to improve it over time. Hope to meet you soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This question is really interesting. I can recall my school days where geography was my favorite subject and not since 9th and 10th class but from 3rd class itself. I remember buying a political map of India and another of World and within a week I can spot every state and major country on both maps. This led me having an deep desire to visit every nation and state of India and not just sight-seeing major attractions but to interact with there people and know their daily routine, their traditions and their culture. This was one of the major reason for me choosing IIT Guwahati 1 year back for my Btech degree instead of IIT Delhi , because culturally you can't find more diverse people in India than North-East. North-East has all to offer my a ton of tribes to all 3 major religion of India it is packed with most beautiful landscapes of the country. Be it Cherrapunji or the Umiam lake(I know a lot is left for me to know), but undoubately it is best place to start my travelling journey.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The date is 15 oct 2021, I gave my JEE Advanced Exam(World's toughest Exam) on 3rd Oct 2021 and today is the day results will be announced. I woke up early in the morning and went to my village's stadium for my normal workout and don't know where it came from but decided to go for a solo trip to upper/rural Shimla. in no time I packed my bag and left for Chandigarh where my uncle lived. Had rest for the day and excitement added when I got to know that I cleared JEE Advanced Exam with an All India Rank of 100 out of 11 lakh aspirants who took JEE Mains. The next day I left for Shimal through the HRCTC bus (Himachal's Bus) and the ride was one of the best rides of my life. I can see the mountains, narrow roads, and greenery all around me. Reached Shimla Old Bus Stand and had Aloo Paratha(Loved it!). It was total chaos to catch the next bus to Rohru due to the rainfall as many buses were canceled. And after 4 hours when I did catch a bus my best ride changed again. As it was raining the bus was very slow and could see snow far away on mountain tops. I encountered a lot of apple trees on my way and all this amazed me. Somehow reached Rohru in 6 hours for 100 km. then need to go chirgaon where my host was waiting for me. Then there was the real adventure. I took a magix as they say and as roads were blocked due to rain the driver literally took across the river by going inside It(though it was shallow there). I meet my friend after 17 hours of traveling and could feel the cold. For the next 5 days, I traveled to all nearby places from a nearby river, dam, temple, and a lot of mountains while he was out for his work. This was truly an amazing journey.
