About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying the Midwest and writing

ABOUT ME

I moved out to Evanston, a little city on the outskirts of Chicago a few months ago for work. I'm big on writing and music - I've written two novels, and I think a book of my short stories is going to be published this summer.

I'm also big into stuff like comics and self-publishing.

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice and tough.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am prepared to host! This site was a great source for me a few years back, and I'm finally capable of returning the favor.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few years back I traveled the country by Greyhound and made use of this site in Portland and Phoenix.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of music. I don't think I could really list everything, but I prefer punk shows and shows hosted at apartments or houses as opposed to bigger venues.

Movies? No Country for Old Men? I'll be honest, I'm not big on movies. I like to put them on mute and listen to music while drinking with friends.

Books, huh? Manhattan Transfer and USA by John Dos Passos, a bunch of Hemingway, Burroughs, and a slew of Russians.

And in an additional category, comics: Pete Bagge, Johnny Ryan, Los Bros Hernandez, Al Columbia, probably others I can't remember.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a night dancing around a keg with a friend and two strangers who would later become good friends, dancing and singing and screaming along with the Thermals, punching walls, bloody knuckles.

I read my first novel in its entirety to a big audience a little ways back and took a shot between every chapter. 14 chapters! I don't remember much.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's not what you know but how you use it. There is always enough time to do the things you want to -- whether you do them or not is a matter of will. The world is far far far too complicated to believe that there is one right way to do everything.
