Overview
About Me
Every dream I chase brings me closer to who I am. Casual jetsetter, skier, historian, doctor, linguist. Purveyor of great literary quotes. I think like TS Eliot, write like S Plath. Eternal optimist. Equally likely to be found skiing a frozen river as 3 hours behind a French restaurant countertop. Constantly chasing my dreams; when the sky's the limit, I'm always up in the air.
I am most frequently found throughout Alaska due to my current career, followed by Seattle, and then everywhere else in the world. My intense but flexible career has afforded me the privilege of seeing the world and (re)connecting with those important to me.
My accommodations do not allow for me to host while I am in Fairbanks, but I can show you around and take you out for a quick coffee or bite and share with you my experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe serendipity is a function of our willingness to court and pursue randomness.
I've surfed plenty of couches before I've seriously developed a Couchsurfing profile. I'm looking for authentic and honest travel experiences. I'm frequently flying and looking to meet interesting people whether that would be on the ground, in the air, or at the terminals, and would love to hear your stories.
Interests
Deciphering languages. Long road trips. Diners. Art museums. A good film. Street food. Haute cuisine. Philosophical banter. Idealizing literature and poetry. Debating historical accuracy. Dramatizing medicine. Dreaming my next dream.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Predestination," "The Godfather"
Books: "Istanbul" (Orhan Pamuk), "The Lost Time Accidents" (John Wrey), "Cloud Atlas" (David Mitchell).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a Fairbanks resident, I constantly gaze at the aurora borealis and let it capture my imagination.
Here are a few others:
Gazing at Aung San Suu Kyi from beyond the military checkpoints while she was under house arrest in Yangon, Myanmar.
Staring at the southern constellations under the campfires surrounded by the southern African wilderness.
Enjoying the sunset atop a temple amid a sea of brick temples in Pagan, Myanmar.
Spending a fair share of my life stranded in or sleeping at airports.
Sleeping in a cloister at a stop along the Camino de Santiago in France.
Teach, Learn, Share
Life as an Arctic doctor. The beauties and trials of a nomadic existence. The clash of humanism and reality. (How to talk like you're making lists.)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Wonderful conversations. Delightful dinners. Engaging and shared memories. I'm looking forward to meeting with you and finding the little things which connect us.
