About Me

The reason I love traveling the most is the joy I get from getting a glimpse into the lives of others and experiencing the tiny moment of mutual trust between people that occurs when a story is shared. That or the pursuit of good, or simply a lot of, coffee. My passion for stories led me to take a year abroad with Rotary Youth Exchange in Denmark and even work as a caretaker to get insight into yet another family's daily life.

I love to read and if I'm not found reading it's probably because I haven't found an effective way to do it at the same time as writing. I love music and dapple in ukulele, piano, singing, and slightly more embarrassingly, clarinet. My favourite activity in new places is to go to a concert, even solitary (then I can dance harder). As I've moved around a lot, I also love the worthwhile challenge of keeping up with the people that are dear to me, so always have a half written letter being toted around in my bag.

If you'd like to get more of a feel for who I am and how I like to travel, check out my blog from my year in Denmark as an exchange student! https://mollishthings.wordpress.com/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My goal in Paris is to stay at Shakespeare & Co. as a Tumbleweed so I'm jumping around until a spot opens up. Couchsurfing to me is the best way to travel as its not quite the fast-paced, drinking atmosphere of hostels all the time but still a way to travel for the people you meet, which is what I believe it's about. And who better to know the cafe with the best lattes or the post office around the corner with the guy who always tells the funniest stories or the best climbing tree in the park than the people who live here?

I would love to be on the other side of the joy of couchsurfing when I can return the favour as my friends can attest there is nothing I love more than showing off my city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: folk and indie. Currently in a Bob Dylan/Joni Mitchell/Leonard Cohen phase and took it as a good omen that all three were on the music on Icelandair the flight over. If you're in Edmonton- Folk Fest is a must!

Movies: What We In The Shadows (sassy New Zealand Vampires!) and About Time (one of the Weasley brothers but with cheesy feelings!)

Books: my favourite book changes every month. Right now it's The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, a poetry book by Sarah Kay, and any comic book written by my sister

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did a four day hike to Machu Picchu! The amazing thing was not the incredible experience but rather that I survived, at 13 and hating hiking. My sister had to tell me the entire plot of Game of Thrones to coax me to keep walking. There are family rumours that I cried at the news that the last famed 1000 steps would be done at three am, but I haven't seen picture proof. I like to think that I've matured.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a music jam session with you, a coffee chat session, or teach you my favourite game (although I can't guarantee I'll let you win). I can also teach you any Danish tongue twister you heart desires. (Far, får får får? Nej, får får ikke får, får får lam.)
