Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Being open to all sorts of folks, expanding my horizons.
ABOUT ME
I love unexpected adventures!
Anne of Green Gables often talks about bosom friends and I have met more than I can count on two hands through my experience with coach surfing. The fact that there are people in this world who share their space and lives with strangers is the most reassuring fact that I've come across in recent memory. Exposing yourself to new experiences and people of all sorts is what makes us richer and I think that this organization is on this task.
PHILOSOPHY
Making yourself happy is the best way to ensure the happiness of those around you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to show people around my town and give people access to any of the 'perks' that a local can tap into.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far just a surfer but warming up to hosting.
Interests
conceiving elaborate craft projects, visiting unusual museums and parks, participating in impromptu dance parties, singing karaoke, meeting new friends!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books I've read recently and loved- Zami by Audre Lorde, Wild Fermentation by Sandor Ellix Katz, The Captain's Verses by Pablo Neruda, Traditional Scandinavian Knitting by Sheila McGregor, Rootabaga Stories by Carl Sandberg, The Art of Living According to Joe Beef, Vegetable Literacy by Deborah Madison and the 2014 Johnny's Seeds catalog.
I spent Christmas this year watching youtube videos of Soul Train performances. This doesn't sum me up but it comes close.
I end up watching a lot more ultra-violent films than I care to. I would rather watch really slow paced movies like Babette's Feast or A Room With A View but I usually end up watching Sexy Beast or Silence of the Lambs instead.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Scallops swimming in turtle grass in the lagoon on Martha's Vineyard. This place also has phosphorescence in the late summer. Magic.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a professional cook. I have been working in a steak restaurant specializing in grass fed beef and Mississipi influenced world cuisine (can explain if interested.) When cooking alone I eat mostly vegetarian food and am completely taken in by fermenting.
I knit recreationally and have a short attention span so I can teach you how to knit a hat with worsted weight yarn no problem! I like knitting on double edged needles if you want to pick up that skill.
I love plants. Love them. I have had gardens in the past and want to get a plot in a community garden this summer. I love to take clippings of plants and give people clippings of my own.
Teach me what you will. Learning is wonderful.
