About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a Colorado native turned Wisconsinite (I'm here for the cheese and beer). I am currently in my last year of four years of veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.

PHILOSOPHY

I think I can sum it up in two quotes (sorry if it's cheesy to use quotes):

"I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
- Groucho Marx

"Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out all the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them."
-Christopher John Francis Boone "The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-Time"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I still new to all of this and learning the ropes. I wish I could host more but school takes up all of my time and I'm afraid I wouldn't be a very good host :(. I would still love to meet people for coffee or a drink!

As for surfing, I'm really excited to meet new people and have new experiences. I've heard wonderful things about CS and can't wait to add some experiences to my profile :).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just had my first experience surfing in Austin and it was a blast! So excited to do this again and meet more people!

Interests

Well, I don't have much spare time these days but most of what I do have I spend hanging out with my dog (pug and boston terrier mix), baking, or attempting to improve my photography skills. The rest of the time I can usually be found with my nose in a book at a coffee shop. When all else fails, I can usually be tracked down to the nearest bottle of red wine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Nicaragua a couple years ago as a "last hurrah" before starting vet school. My most memorable moment was when our wonderful guide decided to take us off the normal tour. He brought us to a cave opening at the base of a volcano. As the sunset, we waited at the mouth of the cave and he told me to point my camera in and wait. All of a sudden, hundreds of bats begin flying out of the cave and I can feel the wind from their wings as they whizzed past my face. Their navigation skills were amazing and not a single one of us was actually touched by the bats. In addition, I got some amazing pictures!
Then I started vet school and learned that it was much more dangerous than I realized at the time but I don't regret it. I was an absolutely incredible experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak french and I am a science tutor. I also mentor a lot of younger kids and often end up mentoring other vet students as well!
