About Me

My goal is to travel the world, to learn about history, discover amazing places, and see different cultures. I believe there's no better investment than spending your time and money travelling.

I've always been a chill guy. I prefer to hang with a few people over a meal, rather than going to huge parties.

I enjoy science and history, which is what I seek when looking for museums and events.

When I'm not travelling (sometimes when I am too), I work fully remotely as an IT consultant. I used to work remotely as a Technical Writer, before COVID.

So far I've been to several places in the US and Canada, Japan, and a few countries in Europe. I hope I'll be able to explore more in the years to come.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've wanted to try Couchsurfing for years, but never had the chance. Now I've finally started doing it, and so far the experience has been great!

Interests

I've studied computer science, and I'm currently exploring the cybersecurity world. Almost anything science related is very interesting to me.

I enjoy learning about history, so anything related to it is a big hit with me.

When I'm not travelling, I enjoy simple things I can do at home. That includes playing games like Dungeons & Dragons or videogames, watching tv series and movies, or hanging out with a few friends over a meal.

When I'm travelling, I like to explore cities as well as nature. I enjoy visiting museums, especially those related to history, science, or those quirky little ones you sometimes find hidden here and there. Arts are not my strong suit, but I enjoy the occasional visit to a gallery or a theatre.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I have a pretty old taste.
I enjoy stuff from the late '40s all the way to the '80s or '90s. But Elvis, Sinatra, and the likes are my jam.

I like most genres of movies. I enjoy most topics, but I especially like movies about real life stories or events.

As for books, I'm not a bookworm. I don't mind the occasional book, as long as it's about a topic that interests me. I don't enjoy novels very much, I prefer historical diaries, technical manuals, or stuff like that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wouldn't classify any of my achievements as "Amazing".

Some interesting things:
- I've been as far as Japan to the east, Hawaii to the west, and soon Nordkapp to the north. I haven't travelled south much yet.
- A few years back I did fly "around the world", with a trip that took me from Italy to Japan, from Japan to the US, and from the US back to Italy.
- I've experienced -40° while backpacking through Canada in January 2018.

Teach, Learn, Share

Part of my job is to teach the basics of cybersecurity to unproficient users in order for them to protect their information and their businesses from the most common threats.

That aside, I think we all teach and learn without even realising it, by simply sharing our experiences and ideas with others. Discussing topics and different ideas is a great way to get to know someone, as well as a chance to learn new things. While there's no topic I wouldn't like to talk about, there's a few kinds of people I wouldn't like having some discussions with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share my experience, both when it comes to knowledge and practical skills. Working as an IT consultant, I've been known to check a slow computer or remove a malware from time to time.
Of course I’m happy to clean after myself! It’s only fair to do so!
