Hello, we are Monique (31 years old) and Marcus (32) and usually live in Leipzig, a big city in Germany. In October 2021 we started a trip through South and Central America. Till now we made a lot of lovely experiences. We started to learn a new language, we lived with locals in Peru, Bolivia and Costa Rica and Guatemala. We have seen the Machu Picchu, saw the salt dessert in Bolivia, hiked in the rainforest around the Amazonas, worked on a farm near Cochabamba , jumped a 12m high waterfall and so much more. For the last 3 weeks of our GAP year we want to visit the United States - expecially Utah and the amazing Nationalparks.

What you need to know about us:
We are a couple and together since 7 years now.
We love to spend our time in nature. Nearly every weekend we are on the tour with friends, family or just by ourselves. We like hiking, going to the lake, climbing (till now just in the gym), Geocaching - everything you can do outside.
But we also like to have Me-time. Marcus loves to watch sport (tennis, snooker...) and Monique likes to read a book or sew.

Also we are openminded and happy to meet other people. Its always so amazing to hear and see what other people have experienced. We don't support racist or sexist viewpoints.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First point is, that we think Couchsurfing is a perfect possibilty to get to know so much different people from around the world, you would never see without that platform. We never heard something bad about the community before and want to offer the our place to other people someday, when we have the space for that.

Second we like to be in direct contact with the local people. You cannot get this experience, when staying in a hotel.

Third, traveling can also cost a lot of money (especially after a whole year). So from time to time we try to save money by not using a hostel or something else.

Interests

We are active people. We like to be outside for running, climbing, hiking or just enjoy the sun.
We spend much time with our friends, because they mean so much to us.

Music, Movies, and Books

Marcus likes to read biography or crime. Monique loves reading all kind of books. Most of all multi-part books. For example the classics like Harry Potter ( I have read them all in four months) and The Hunger Games.
Some other books: Desert Flower, Mary Poppins, escape from camp 14...

We like to watch series like blacklist, how to get away with murder, Grey's, the mentalist...

We like to listen to all kind of music. Marcus favorite is German Hip Hop.
