Hello! I'm Moniek and until April 2016 I was part of York House, a couch surfing address (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/yorkhouse-lancaster) together with my flat mates Jakub and Valentina.

We regularly receive guests in our house, but have been an offical couchsurfing address since November 2015. For any references for me and my flatmates as a host, or more information about our hobbies and activities, feel free to check the profile of YorkHouse :-)

But now I have moved to Southampton for a new job, which is loads of fun, except for the fact that I can't receive any guests in my new accommodation, boo :(. Please contact me though if you want to meet up, I'm always up for that :)

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I love visiting new places. But more importantly, I want to be able to experience a new town/region/country as a local. Hearing stories about the area, visiting the beautiful, quiet places only locals know about. Spending time with local residents is so much more rewarding and interesting than hopping from hostel to hostel with a guide book.

When I travelled through Iceland and Norway with my tent in 2015, I met so many amazing people that showed me around, offered me transportation, shelter, food, advice and their lovely company. This made me decide that I want to do the same for travellers that come to visit Lancaster and make their visit unforgettable. So please come over and stay at our place! :)

Me and my flatmates are very outdoorsy and love nature, wild camping, cycling, running, hiking etc. As long as it is outside, you name it, we love it. But don't worry, if the weather doesn't allow for outdoor activities, we will surely have fun too, by enjoying some local ales and ciders for instance.

Leaving Netherlands and moving to the UK to be closer to all this amazing nature. I realized that spending my holidays in the hills and mountains wasn't enough! Why not move to a country with beautiful nature, so you can on weekend trips whenever you want?!
