About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Circling the globe, exploring the unknown and meeting new people

ABOUT ME

I'm a 28y old guy from a beautiful, ancient but vibrant town, called 'Ghent' (Belgium).

PHILOSOPHY

never refuse an invitation
never resist the unfamiliar
never fail to be polite
and never outstay your welcome
(Orbital- 'Beached')

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you want good company or a guide when you're visiting Belgium (especially Ghent), I'm your man! I still think Belgium is not so much visited by backpackers as the neighbouring countries, because on first sight we don't have that much to offer! However this is not necessaily true as we have great food, beautiful old cities, a turbulent history and plenty things to see! So if you ever make a sidetrip, let me know!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've already hosted 1 couchsurfer and before i also met very nice people in Korea via CS. I wish I had signed up a lot earlier on this website!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Beach (my absolute all time nr 1), Jurassic Parc (first movie on big screen:p), Slumdog Millionaire, House of the Flying Daggers, ..
Music: minimal electro/house, techno, trance, rock, metal. I also make my own songs!
Books: The last concubine (from Lesley Downer; highly recommended!!),all books from Qiu Xiaolong and Peter May (Chinese crimenovels), 'Bangkok Tattoo' (John Burdett), 'The Lost Labyrinth' (Kate Mosse), 'The Kite Runner' (Kh.Hoesseni), ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- my last trip to Indonesia was memorable in all its ways! Unfortunately the beach-sitting at Bali took a bit too long!
- Bangkok; still my favourite city!
- the DMZ in South Korea (3th tunnel, North Korea observatory)
- 3 days jungle trekking in Chiang Mai
- been 1cm from Myanmar (at Doi Angkhan): unique feeling!
- Phi-phi islands (altough very touristic, still a natural wonder; but how long it's gonna last?)
- other beautiful places; Hoi An (Vietnam), Vang Vieng (Laos), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Seoraksan national park (South-Korea), ...
- everytime I'm sitting at the 'Graslei' in my hometown Gent. Unique atmosphere near the river and old churches/houses around. When the winter has gone and the weather is getting warmer, many people are coming there to have a beer, watch sunset, ...
