A dingledodie in practice.

The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centrelight pop and everybody goes ‘Awww!’

On The Road, By Jack Kerouac - I recently read this book and this quote sings to me.

I quit my job in 2017 to travel the world! It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. From 2018 to 2020 I spent 14 months traveling through Europe and Turkey. I visited 35 countries, more than 240 cities/towns/villages and walked 3,087 miles (4,939 km). To say the experience was incredible would in all honesty be an understatement and I feel truly fortunate to have experienced all of it! Unfortunately, like for most of us, due to covid I had to pause me international travels. Now that I'm fully vaccinated and things are more back to “normal” I spent the summer of 2022 traveling through Scandinavia, The Baltics and Morocco. Was an amazing time! In 2023 I finally made it to SE Asia and spent 4 months traveling through Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. Was a magical trip! I now find myself back in Asia and enjoying Taiwan these days.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I do not want to be a tourist, I want to be a traveler! So far I've had the opportunity to couch surf 11 times in 7 different countries and enjoyed each experience very much. I stayed with 11 very generous, interesting and cool people and realized it's the closest way to live like a local during my travels. This is something I greatly appreciate!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movie is Amelie. I just love everything about it. Rather than list a bunch of other movies and music and books I enjoy(ed) I'd be happy chatting about this and anything else you may be interested in. As you may notice from reading my references I really enjoy telling and listening to stories and just conversation in general. Doesn't really matter the subject, I'm game for some interesting dialogue anytime of the day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I mentioned it above in "about me". I quit my job to travel the world! It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I also jumped my motorcycle over two moving cars but that's a story better told over beers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to all of the above. If you are interested, I’m happy to help you with your English (if that’s a language you are trying to learn) as much as I can. I’m in the process of learning Spanish but it’s challenging for me and I definitely need more practice and a lot of help!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you "dolce far niente". While I was in Lecce, Italy I met a very interesting new friend Eugenio who shared with me this Italian saying. Loosely translated as he said, it means "the sweetness of doing nothing". This saying and approach to life really resinated with me and is definitely something I can share with hosts :)
