ABOUT ME

UPDATE: SEPT/2024
My living situation has changed recently. I no longer have a home, therefore I'm unable to offer a couch for someone. I've hosted, and enjoyed meeting so many wonderful surfers through the years. I'm now living in a retirement home, but if you happen to be surfing in the Corvallis area, I would still enjoy having a nice visit over a meal anytime, so feel free to still contact me if you'd like.
ORIGINAL PROFILE:
Feeling very OLD at the moment, after looking at all the youthful profiles. Really hope to connect with others of all ages from around the world. Have traveled all my life, and hope to continue as long as I can. I'm a gay man, and I've been a friend of Bill W. since 1975, and stay active in the program. Very open minded, and don't take life too seriously. Believe in the 'Live and Let Live' philosophy. A laid back kind of guy, who enjoys the simple things in life. Since I'm not a drinker, or partier, I wouldn't be a very good choice for those who may be looking for that sort of thing.

PHILOSOPHY

This life isn't a "dress rehearsal".... It's the real McCoy. Enjoy it to the fullest extent, a day at a time.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't host, as I live in a retirement home. My involvement with CS has been a lot of fun meeting some great people. Willing to meet up for a meal and meet a new friend, anytime.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I want to return to Iceland, and hopefully find a couch there.

Interests

Obviously travel, and all the pleasures it brings.Love gardening.Enjoy volunteering at community organizations. Music is a major part of my life. I collect, and really enjoy Classic Country Music from the 60's.Reading, Movies, Fishing, and Cooking also float my boat. My many friends are my greatest asset.

Music, Movies, and Books

Funniest movie I've ever seen was a Del Shores film called Sordid Lives.
Don't get much time to sit and read, but there's always music playing. Could be Classic Country, Jazz, Opera, or a piano concerto. My interests in music are vast. Taught myself to play the piano by ear.

Got sober at age 27.

I spent my entire working life in the "people" business of some kind, and just love to meet, and learn all I can from others whose lives are different from mine. I'm equally as comfortable talking about a travel experience with a wealthy person, as I am holding the hand of a homeless alcoholic and offering him a glimmer of hope for his life.
