He was born addicted, already fighting a battle no child should ever have to face. When the world could have turned its back, I opened my arms. I gave him a safe, nurturing place to grow, heal, and simply be a baby. While his mother worked to reclaim her own life, I held the line for him—offering stability, affection, and a quiet kind of strength that doesn’t ask for recognition.

It wasn’t easy. But it was worth everything. And now, knowing that I was a bridge between chaos and hope for a tiny human who deserved so much more—that’s something I’ll always carry with pride.
