About Me

CURRENT MISSION

If a pin drops... I wanna be there to see it happen!

ABOUT ME

Teaching and living and travel planning in Seoul, South Korea. My one year contract is ending this fall, so I'm off to Vietnam and Cambodia (hopefully Laos too...) Haven't been back to the States in a while, and the 'rents want me home for the holidays, so I gotta do it up big in a small amount of time! ME: 25, awesomely outgoing, hellbent on staying positive, raised on manners and makin' nice, loveloveLOVES to meet new, like-minded peeps, worried that there's too much to do in too little time (regarding both this particular trip as well as LIFE), does not tolerate complaining, loves to work up a sweat and would be OUTSIDE for every second of the rest of my life if it were possible, works hard (disaster relief volunteer) and plays harder (earned a 4.0 in social skills back in my dorm days). YOU: Aren't totally bored by now. Will not give me 'tude about my southern accent or the word "y'all." Want to meet and hang and show me where to get a delicious beer (sorry Korea, but your beer selection is for the birds).

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind. Put your big girl panties on. Go big or go home. Laugh a little, will ya?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm flying into Hanoi at the end of October, and plan to stay in SE Asia for 6 weeks. I'll be all by my lonesome and probably a bit intimidated and would love a gentle guiding hand to hang with. Some insight into what cannot be missed would be awesome. An outdoor drink or some live music would be awesomer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm an open-minded newbie!

Interests

The Great Outdoors. Delicious coffee and IPAs. Talking. Watching Forest Gump. Taking photos. Seeing the real SE Asia. Performance art. Writing. Running. Yoga. Wowing strangers with my no fear approach to new foods. The color pink. Talking my way out of awkward situations. Reading books with pages, not buttons. Listening to people tell stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, yes, and yes. Let's trade books!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently volunteered in Ofunato, Japan doing tsunami and earthquake disaster relief. I happened to be there the week of the community's biggest summer festival, Tanabata. It was more than amazing seeing these people do everything they possibly could to make the festival a successful, positive experience for us volunteers as well as other community members, considering the huge loss they've recently suffered. One of the greatest experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will be enrolling in grad school come spring, so anyone who's done the extended education thing and has a pros/cons list they want to share... I'm all ears.
