Overview
About Me
Hey, I’m Morgan! I grew up in Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter as part of the Hui community. The neighborhood is famous for its food and culture, and being raised there gave me a strong sense of both tradition and diversity.
Over the past few years I’ve been working and traveling in the US, which has given me the chance to connect with people from all over the world. I’m easygoing, curious, and always up for good conversations — whether it’s about travel, food, or just life in general. Friends would probably say I’m thoughtful but also adventurous: I enjoy trying new things, exploring hidden spots in a city, and learning from the people I meet along the way.
For me, Couchsurfing is all about human connection. I’m not looking for luxury — just genuine experiences, kindness, and the chance to exchange perspectives. If we meet, I’d be happy to share some cooking, swap travel stories, or simply hang out and laugh.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, travel isn’t just about seeing new places — it’s about connecting with people and sharing stories. Couchsurfing feels like the best way to do that. I love the idea of staying with locals, getting a glimpse of their daily lives, and creating memories that go beyond the usual tourist experience.
I also believe in cultural exchange. Having lived, studied, and worked in different places, I enjoy sharing my own experiences while learning from others. Couchsurfing gives me the chance to build genuine connections and friendships all around the world.
Interests
I’m passionate about exploring both nature and cities. I love hiking, kayaking, and fishing — being outdoors always makes me feel alive. At the same time, I enjoy discovering hidden spots in a city, trying local food, and learning the stories behind them.
I’m also into fitness and staying active, but I balance that with quieter hobbies like writing and reflecting on my experiences. Traveling has given me a deep interest in different cultures, languages, and ways of life, and I really enjoy meeting people from around the world to exchange ideas.
Music, books, and good conversations are always welcome — I believe the best memories often come from simple moments shared with new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: My taste is pretty eclectic — I listen to a lot of rap and hip-hop, as well as pop and some Britpop/rock. Coldplay has always been one of my favorites, and I enjoy exploring music from around the world.
Movies: Fight Club is the film that influenced me the most, with its ideas about identity and freedom. I also love the James Bond series, sci-fi classics like The Matrix, and historical films such as Kingdom of Heaven, which left a strong impression on me. I enjoy Japanese samurai films as well. Overall, I’m drawn to movies that make me reflect or that connect to history and culture.
Books: One of the most impactful books I’ve read is Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, especially the part about the “three metamorphoses.” Since my background is in human geography, I’m also very interested in books related to history and geography. In general, I like reading works that are thought-provoking and offer new perspectives, and I keep a long list of titles I want to read in the future.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Honestly, this is a hard question for me. I don’t usually think of my life in terms of “amazing things” — I haven’t climbed Everest or done anything extreme like that. But if I had to pick one memory, I do remember a few years ago, back in my first year of university, going fishing with a friend by a big river during a storm. The wind was howling, thunder and lightning were all around us, and instead of being scared, we only got more and more excited. Looking back, it was reckless but unforgettable — and maybe that’s what makes it amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach you some basic Chinese phrases, or show you how to cook a few simple Chinese dishes. I also enjoy sharing stories about Xi’an and daily life in China.
Learn: I’d love to learn more about your local culture, traditions, and everyday lifestyle. I’m also interested in improving my English (and maybe picking up some phrases in other languages).
Share: I can share food, travel stories, and perspectives from living both in China and abroad. I’m always happy to exchange ideas, go for a walk or hike, and just spend time together.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy making people feel at home, so if we meet, I’d love to share some simple home-cooked meals or snacks from my culture. I can also teach you a few phrases in Chinese if you’re interested, or share stories from my travels and life abroad.
I’m always happy to help out around the house, run errands, or just have a good conversation over tea or coffee. If you’re into exploring, I’d be glad to join you for a walk or hike and exchange perspectives on life, travel, and culture.
Most of all, I’d like to bring positive energy, respect, and curiosity into your space — and hopefully leave as friends.
