About Me

Hey! I’m Morgana, an artist and educator. I love traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures and arts around the world. I try to travel as much as possible because I feel it helps me grow very quickly and gives me opportunities to change my habits or discover new ways to do the same things, you know? This is very important to me, like a core value: being open to learning from and teaching anyone in a horizontal way. I love to dance, cook, and go out for a picnic, visit museums, or go to a club! My best quality and personality flaw is saying “yes” to every proposal and wanting to do all the things I can in one day. Sometimes it's good to binge -watch a series and take a break, but I can do that in São Paulo, at home! Haha

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This time, I’m traveling in Europe, spending three months studying contemporary dance. I run a business in Brazil and came to refresh myself and discover my next steps.

Now that I have a break from my studies, I really want to enjoy these moments. Typically, I create my own travel itineraries, trying to connect with local people and discover the essence of the places I visit. For me, Couchsurfing is a wonderful opportunity to delve deeper into cultural exchange. As a woman, I admit I have some apprehension about online connections, but I've only heard positive things about this platform and its hosts, so I'm really excited to experience it!

Music, Movies, and Books

As a typical Brazilian, I love Brazilian music—samba, MPB (Brazilian popular music), and funk. As a classical ballerina, I enjoy attending classical concerts; watching from the audience and seeing the conductor face-to-face is amazing! As a good listener, I also love to experience jazz shows, including improvisational jams. I'm an eclectic person; while hard rock might be a bit challenging for me, who knows what experiences await?

Here in Berlin (my last stop), I’ve been open to attending electronic parties because I know this is the best place for it!

“Medianeiras - Buenos Aires na era digital” is my second favorite movie, but I can binge-watch Pedro Almodóvar’s films as well—I know, it’s a cliché! My top favorite, though, is my short film “I Hope You Don’t Mind.” I created this short film using analog photography. Do you know about “pinhole” cameras? It's the first type of camera in history! I’d be happy to explain more about it and show you my movie!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I previously mentioned my short film, “I Hope You Don’t Mind.” I think this project was amazing, and I participated in many different roles as an artist. I co-wrote the project and the script with Natalia, my partner; I directed the movement and acted in it. This short film has participated in several festivals around the world, including in Porto, the UK, Belgium, and Brazil. I’m very proud of that!

Another project I’ve worked on is “Anatomy of Sensitivity,” a series of body classes that I developed, focusing on our bodies as automatic pilots, incorporating theater, dance, and body awareness techniques. I was an arts teacher in regular schools in Brazil, but now I’m trying to explore new ways to study and teach in different spaces.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy discussing arts, particularly dance, theater, and Brazilian culture. Although I'm not a Portuguese teacher, I am open to sharing basic Portuguese or exploring different aspects of Brazilian culture. I believe that everyone, regardless of their background, can teach me something valuable, whether it's a new food or a fresh perspective on life. José Pacheco, a notable education thinker, often emphasizes that learning is not a conscious choice but rather a natural process—it just happens. However, we do have the power to choose where and from whom we learn. I seek out individuals who share my values; while I may deeply connect with certain values, there are others, such as violence, impoliteness, or indifference towards others, that I actively avoid learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love having good, deep conversations over coffee, beer, or wine with my hosts. I enjoy cooking for others and sharing the moments of preparation and dining together. We can also explore the city, as I’m always curious and open to understanding your favorite places and foods. Oh, it’s really important for me to laugh; I can’t live without humor!
